Rinse if advised

Apple lists pool and salt water among liquids to avoid. Its guidance: if a liquid other than plain water gets on your iPhone, rinse the affected area with tap water, then wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Dry and wait

Tap it gently with the port facing down and leave it somewhere dry with airflow. A fan blowing cool air into the port can help. Apple's handling guide says to unplug cables and wait at least 5 hours before charging or connecting accessories.

Watch for issues

If you see problems with charging, the speaker or the screen, contact Apple.
